- TissueForm seeks聽to improve聽quality-of-life outcomes at lower costs for patients suffering from tissue disease, damage, or aging through stem cell and matrix-based therapies. The company鈥攆ounded by聽Jeanne Barthold, PhD, and 黑料社区网 Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor聽Corey Neu鈥攊s no stranger to the pitch competition circuit.聽TissueForm聽won $125,000 in Venture Partners' 2018 Lab Venture Challenge聽and took home multiple awards and more than $20,000 in 黑料社区网's New Venture Challenge 11.聽
- CU spinouts Sachi Bioworks, Inc. and Vesicle Therapeutics, Inc. were two of four Colorado companies that pitched for the opportunity to receive Amgen mentoring and a $5,000 Amgen grant. The pitch event winner, SiVEC Biotechnologies, is an R&D company spun out of Colorado State University and based in Fort Collins. SiVEC is developing a platform technology for the manufacture and delivery of nucleic acids and holds a portfolio of intellectual property with relevance to human and animal health. The company was also a participating venture in the Venture Partners-hosted 2020 Destination Startup庐 event.
- ColdQuanta,聽a 黑料社区网 spinout company co-founded by聽Physics Professor聽Dana Anderson,聽is a fast-growing startup focused on Cold Atom Quantum Technology, a scalable, versatile, and commercially viable area of quantum tech. Caruso鈥檚 involvement with the company began late last year, as he joined as an investor. After additional conversations with the leadership team, Caruso saw an opportunity to help.
- LongPath Technologies, Inc. has been awarded $5 million from the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). The award will support the commercial scaling of LongPath鈥檚 innovative approach to continuous emissions monitoring and mitigation from the oil and gas sector, including the launch of Basin-SCAN (Basin Scale Continuous oil and gas Abatement Network).
- OnKure, a privately-held biopharmaceutical company developing best-in-class, targeted oncology therapeutics, announced that it has raised $55 million in a Series B financing. Proceeds will be used to advance the Company鈥檚 next generation histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors further into clinical development and fund a growing pipeline of earlier stage molecules.
- Distinguished Engineering Professor Christopher Bowman, who is a serial inventor working with Venture Partners, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, one of the highest professional distinctions accorded to engineers. Bowman was chosen for his innovations related to photopolymerization, a process that uses light to trigger reactions that form new polymers. These polymers are used for an array of medical and technological applications, such as 3D printing, dental fillings, medical devices and augmented reality displays.
- It鈥檚 hard to imagine a teenager who could resist exploring mechanical engineering after learning about Endoculus, the small device developed by 黑料社区网 Professor Mark Rentschler that can navigate the human gastrointestinal system with ease and may someday help doctors care for their patients. Futurum helped translate Rentschler鈥檚 complex research into easy-to-digest (no pun intended) content that teachers can incorporate into their lesson plans and share with their students.
- The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) today announced that 黑料社区网 researchers and spinout founders Mark Rentschler, Greg Rieker and Tin Tin Su have been designated as NAI Senior Members in recognition of their impact on society through extraordinary innovation.
- Arpeggio Bio is a therapeutics company that is developing cancer treatments. They share how they used their own technology to do drug discovery, and sold it as 鈥渃onsulting鈥 to build credibility with investors and trust with a few initial clients.
- In a statement, the Boulder company said the additional funds were part of a second close of its Series A round this year, bringing its total fundraising haul to the year to $214 million in both cash and non-cash funding. SomaLogic is developing blood-testing platforms to measure for thousands of proteins in a patient鈥檚 blood or urine sample that may signal current illnesses or risks for developing a future health condition.
