Josh is one ofVenturePartner’s four full-time licensing managers at . He manages a large part oftheengineering and physics departments, specializing in quantum, photonicsand phononics technologies.

Licensing Managers wear many hats at CU. Josh is their first contact when a faculty member or PhD student creates an invention. He analysesthetechnologyforpatentability, commercial viabilityand startup potential. Ifthetechnology is deemed valuable, Joshthen shepherdsthetechnology through all stages of its business development. Be it customer discovery, gap fundingand business accelerator programming ifthere is a startup involved, or marketing efforts, industry relationship buildingand license drafting if not.

Josh has spent his entire career commercializing university technologies. He began his career as an intern atthe Technology Transfer Office (nowVenturePartners) while obtaining his law degree. Following graduation, Josh spent time at Colorado State University andtheUniversity of Utah before returning home to CU in 2019.

Josh is an avid hiker, soccer player, musicianand entrepreneur playing drums and percussion in local bands and running a small music recording studio, “Josh Box Studio.”He strives to live his life tothefive values of honesty, humility, compassion, courageand discipline.
