Welcome to the jazz drums studioÌýat the ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø College of Music!

Our curriculum focuses on preparing students to be well-versedÌýrhythm section players andÌýsoloists. Our students gain skills in all styles of Latin, jazz, pop, contemporary, funk and rock—including the odd-meter derivatives therein.

We also provide resources for students to become initmatelyÌýfamiliarÌýwith the great lineage of the masters—past, present and future—who share our passion for being the spirit and driving energy of their groups.

Our students haveÌýthe opportunity to express their talents with other outstanding musiciansÌýunder the mentorship of our supportive, accomplishedÌýfaculty. WeÌýoffer the tools and resources our students need to take their music to the next level of creativity.

Paul Romaine

Paul Romaine began playing drums professionally at age 14. Romaine has led, recorded or performed with countless combinations of the Denver area’s best players and with internationally acclaimed artists such as Eddie Harris, Benny Golson and Robin Eubanks. During his association with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Romaine toured North America performing concerts and clinics. Between gigs, he studied jazz composition at the Lamont School of Music and earned a degree in recording engineering from the University of Colorado. He serves as a mentor musician/clinician in several Denver-area school districts and founded the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts (CCJA),Ìýoffering a program for middle school and high school students across Metro Denver to play together and study with professional musicians.
