Paid Research Opportunities for Undergraduate Students!

The Johnson Laboratory ()听is accepting qualified necropsy technician assistants to assist in the laboratory at the world-recognized University of Colorado located in scenic Boulder Colorado beginning in May and concluding by September 8th, 2025.听Note: This position is only available for undergraduate students who still have a year or more left in their undergraduate studies! The primary responsibilities of the selected individual will be to perform necropsies on a wide range of amphibian species to identify and quantify macro-parasite infections. This will include (1) isolation of macro-parasites for molecular and morphological vouchers and abundance, and (2) use of microscopic imaging techniques to identify and document parasites in situ. Finally, the individual will be expected to assist with daily management of the laboratory including husbandry of live amphibians, fishes, and snails, and data entry and data clean up.

This position salary will depend on experience level of candidates (starting at $18.00 per hour up to $20.00 [pending experience]). This position is temporary (May 2025- September 8th, 2025). This position will be 75%. The selected employee should expect to work between 24-35 hours per week Wednesday- Friday at 8-hour days. Rarely, Tuesday will be included.听

Competitive candidates should have prior independent research experience, which needs to include necropsy of vertebrates, proficiency with data entry and management in Excel, and some parasite identification skills.
