Managers Academy: Employee Management and Compliance Essentials

Feb. 7 & 8 - Full, Waitlist Available

9:00听to 4:30听p.m. each day

The Employee Management and Compliance Essentials course provides a comprehensive overview for managers and supervisors of legal guidelines, campus policies, and CU-Boulder practices related to employee management and development.

The core curriculum includes:

  • Pre-employment essentials (position management, compensation, and recruitment).
  • Employee development guidelines and strategies (onboarding, performance management and progressive discipline).
  • Special topics in employee management (federal and campus policies and procedures related to discrimination and harassment; the Americans with Disabilities Act; and the Family Medical Leave). In addition, participants will select two elective sessions from the following topics; Bystander Intervention, Writing Effective Interview Questions, Service Animals and the ADA, and Managing Difficult Employees

New Employee Welcome Experience

The New Employee Welcome Experience is the first event in a year-long series designed to help increase the understanding of 黑料社区网鈥檚 culture, organizational structure and governance, operations, learning mission, values, and campus initiatives. This program is offered to new, permanent 黑料社区网 employees in their first year of employment.This day-long event will help new employees become oriented with the 黑料社区网 campus. The New Employee Welcome Experience starts at Old Main Heritage Center听in the historic heart of campus where participants will begin to develop their understanding of what it means to be a member of the 黑料社区网 community. The day will include a 2 hour walking tour of campus and a 1 hour bus tour broken into two portions throughout the day.听Lunch will be provided by Elevations Credit Union and print materials are provided by CU Imaging Services (your campus printer).

New 黑料社区网 employees听in their first 12 to 18 months of employment are invited to participate in the CU Discover Lunch and Learn Series, part of the Department of Human Resources'听comprehensive, year-long onboarding program. Developing Intercultural Competence Workshop

黑料社区网 is committed to a strong campus climate in which all students, staff, and faculty thrive and feel a sense of commitment to and from our community.听 Creating this depends on our ability to shift cultural perspectives and appropriately adapt behaviors to cultural differences and commonalities.听听 This workshop is open to all 黑料社区网 faculty and staff interested in learning more about intercultural competence and how the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) can be used to assess, and build upon, your own level of intercultural competence.听 黑料社区网 IDI qualified administrators will guide you through attitudes, awareness, knowledge, and skills associated with creating an inclusive campus environment.

Crucial Conversations Refresher: Master My Stories

Organization and Employee Development (OED) along with campus partners introduce a听Crucial Conversations Refresher听program for Crucial Conversation (CC) graduates.听There is no cost to attend this program.听All Crucial Conversations graduates are听invited to join certified facilitators for an hour-long deep dive into the CC curriculum.听

Neuroscience and learning transfer theory tells us that consistently practicing new skills is the biggest predictor to successfully integrating learning into your everyday environment. The Refresher program will provide an interactive opportunity for CC graduates to practice and hone the skills and strategies presented in the original CC training.

Refresher Participants will be able to:

  • Apply听CC skills and strategies in a facilitated environment.
  • Collaborate听with other CC graduates and facilitators to enhance their application of CC concepts.
