Mentimeter is a tool used for building interactive and dynamic presentations and quizzes. The tool allows users to add questions, polls, quizzes, word clouds, surveys, images, and gifs.听

Testing Parameters听

In March 2022, the Digital Accessibility Office鈥檚 Assessment and Usability team conducted an accessibility test of Mentimeter. It is important to note that the test was done on the free version of the desktop and mobile browser versions. We used a pre-made quiz that included multiple-choice questions, an image, and edit fields. The quiz was not timed and did not include content slides, traffic lights, or questions, including a wheel or sliders.听听

Mentimeter Accessibility Status听

The Digital Accessibility Office听found the Mentimeter site to be relatively accessible to individuals who utilize assistive technologies (AT) and keyboard-only access. Overall, the platform is easy to navigate and read; however, a few issues were found regarding focus handling (where the assistive technology is 鈥渓ooking鈥 versus where it should be looking). For example, errors generated when exceeding character limits do not grab the assistive technology鈥檚 focus; thus, users are unaware that they have reached a character limit and may continue typing without knowing the new text hasn't been posted. Additionally, during mobile device testing, the initial focus was inconsistent for each question, going to different places on the page each time.听
