Trina began her career as Opioid Outreach Navigator for Boulder County Public Health 7 years ago as her friends lost children to overdoses. Her own daughter became addicted to prescribed opioids leading to an addiction for 6 years. Trina, a CO Certified Peer and Family Specialist, Parent Peer RecoveryCoach, and Acudetox Specialist, led the county’s SubstanceUse Advisory Group, the largest coalition of shared leadership addressing the opioid and illicit drug market, including harm reduction, law enforcement, community members in recovery, treatment and prevention programs, local hospitals and MAT programs, school districts and the University of CO. Trina’s passion to work alongside those in the field and those stigmatized by the disease of substance use has made her a passionate leader in the community. Her daughter works with her presenting in local high schools and across the state about fentanyl, the stages addiction, brain chemistry and Narcan trainings. Together they have educated over 4000 students and families in Colorado! Her high school program won the Colorado State of the State Youth Mental Health Award in 2023.
