The Western Literature Association and the University of Colorado鈥檚 Center of the American West hosted a celebration of contemporary Western writing in conjunction with the Western Literature Association鈥檚 43rd Annual Conference. The week-long event provided the CU-Boulder community with a rich and varied program of free public readings and presentations by prominent Western authors. Featured authors included:
鈥 The lyrical Chicano poet from Colorado鈥檚 San Luis Valley and American Book Award winner, Aaron Abeyta
鈥 The Coeur d鈥橝lene novelist Janet Campbell Hale, whose novel听The Jailing of Cecelia Capture听was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize
鈥 The Chickasaw essayist, poet, and novelist Linda Hogan
鈥 Writer, artist, and producer Teresa Jordan
鈥 The Acoma Pueblo poet, essayist, and Professor, Simon Ortiz
鈥 The rising northern Colorado novelist, Laura Pritchett, whose 2005 novel听Sky Bridge听won several awards
鈥 The acclaimed poet, essayist, and Professor Emeritus from CU-English, Reg Saner
鈥 Writer and filmmaker Annick Smith, who co-produced the award-winning film,听A River Runs Through It
