The Center for Humanities & the Arts Cox Family Process talk, “Conditional Inclusion: What Islamophobia Keeps Telling Us about America" will be delivered by Dr. Caleb Elfenbein (Grinnell College) on Wednesday, April 2, 4:00-5:30pm in the UMC Aspen Room (285-289) with a reception to follow.

The purpose of the Cox Family Process speaker series is to invite a scholar known for a particular work and have them share the origin of the project, its reception, and its afterlife. Dr. Elfenbein will be speaking about both the digital humanities project “” he created with a team at Grinnell, as well as the book that emerged out of it, Fear in Our Hearts: What Islamophobia Tells Us about America (NYU Press 2021)—the first 25 people who register and attend the talk will receive a free copy of his book, and the CU Library has a digital version available for users to read: 

After his talk, Dr. Elfenbein will be in conversation with Dr. Nabil Echchaibi on what we can do to continue combatting anti-Muslim sentiment/violence.
